Adenoidectomy

Adenoids sit where the nose meets the throat. When enlarged they can block nasal breathing, contribute to glue ear, or disturb sleep.
Not every mouth-breathing child needs removal. Allergy, a habit, or a temporary enlargement during a cold can look similar. Examination, and sometimes an X-ray or endoscope, sorts this out.
The operation is done under anaesthesia. Bleeding and a sore throat afterwards are the usual points covered in consent.
