Ear examination
Looking in the ear with a light shows wax, inflammation, discharge or a perforation when these are visible.
A normal look does not rule out an inner-ear or nerve cause of hearing loss. Hearing tests add that information.
Wax is removed only when it is blocking the view or the hearing, and only with proper instruments.
