Tympanometry

Tympanometry shows how the eardrum moves when air pressure changes. It is useful for middle-ear fluid and Eustachian tube problems.
It does not measure how clearly you understand speech. That needs a hearing test.
The probe sits in the ear canal for a few seconds. It should not be done through a painful, discharging ear without a clinician’s decision.
General information. Suitability, risks and alternatives are explained by the treating clinician before any procedure. Nothing here is a recommendation for you personally.
